Intro
Into the forest, quiet as can be!
Chorus
Who lives in the forest? Come and see!
Knock, knock, knock — who's behind that tree?
Say the name out loud with me —
Forest friends are here to meet!
Squirrel
Toti looks up — a big fluffy tail!
Knock, knock! Who's that? Who's that?
It's a SQUIRREL! A SQUIRREL! Hello, squirrel!
Fox
Lilly sees two pointy ears!
Knock, knock! Who's that? Who's that?
It's a FOX! A FOX! Hello, fox!
Owl
Nibs looks up — two big round eyes!
Knock, knock! Who's that? Who's that?
It's an OWL! An OWL! Hello, owl!
Chorus
Who lives in the forest? Come and see!
Knock, knock, knock — who's behind that tree?
Say the name out loud with me —
Forest friends are here to meet!
Hedgehog
Poff bounces down — oh, careful now!
Knock, knock! Who's that? Who's that?
It's a HEDGEHOG! A HEDGEHOG! Hello, hedgehog!
Deer
Mimi floats up — long legs, soft eyes!
Knock, knock! Who's that? Who's that?
It's a DEER! A DEER! Hello, deer!
Rabbit
Gambo laughs — and off it hops!
Knock, knock! Who's that? Who's that?
It's a RABBIT! A RABBIT! Hello, rabbit!

Who lives in the forest? Come and see!
Knock, knock, knock — who's behind that tree?

Forest friends are here to meet!

Into the forest, quiet as can be, and then: knock, knock, knock. Every time the band stops and asks who is behind that tree. Toti spots a squirrel’s big fluffy tail, Lilly sees a fox’s two pointy ears and Nibs looks up into the owl’s two big round eyes. Poff bounces down to the hedgehog, Mimi floats up to the deer, and Gambo laughs as the rabbit hops away.
The song is a guessing game with a pause in it. After the knocking, it is the child’s turn: “Say the name out loud with me.” SQUIRREL! FOX! OWL! Each animal is named three times, so a two-year-old can shout it by the end of the verse. The outro counts them all again, and a baby bear turns up as a surprise.
