Out on the plain where the tall trees grow, something is standing up among the leaves. Poff bounces on springy legs, once, twice and three times more, and only just peeks over the top — while the giraffe blinks and goes on chewing.
Then the giraffe bends down in one long slow curve, and Toti slides all the way down the neck like a playground slide, shouting “Again!” Mimi floats up where nobody else can go, and the giraffe bends down to meet in the middle of the sky.
